Science General · Question
Which of the following bones is not in the leg?
Answer
Radius
The story behind the answer
Radius is correct because it’s a forearm bone, running on the thumb side from elbow to wrist and helping your hand rotate (pronation and supination). The other options are all in the leg: the tibia is the weight-bearing shinbone, the fibula is the slimmer bone along the outer calf that adds stability and muscle attachment, and the patella is the kneecap that protects the joint and improves the leverage of the thigh muscles.
Memory tip: “Radius reaches the wrist; Tibia touches the toes.” Or think “Patella = pat on the knee.” Knowing limb pairs also helps: the radius (with the ulna) is to the forearm as the tibia (with the fibula) is to the lower leg.
