World Capitals · Question
Seychelles
Answer
Victoria
The story behind the answer
Victoria is the capital of Seychelles, located on Mahé Island. It’s sometimes called Port Victoria because the harbor is the nation’s main gateway, but the city’s official name is simply Victoria. Mahé is the island (not a city), and Anse Royale is a town on Mahé.
Named after Queen Victoria in 1841, Victoria is one of the world’s smallest capitals—and the smallest in Africa. Its iconic Clock Tower is a miniature of London’s “Little Ben,” reflecting Seychelles’ British colonial history. Memory tip: Seychelles was once British—so its capital shares the name “Victoria.”
