False. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine (methylxanthines), which dogs metabolize very slowly. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, rapid heart rate, tremors, seizures, and, in severe cases, death. Dark and baking chocolates are the most dangerous because they’re highly concentrated; small dogs are at greater risk from the same bite.

Fun fact: theobromine is a natural defense chemical in cacao plants, harmless to most humans but not to dogs. Remember it this way: “Dark is dangerous—keep cocoa from the K9.” If your dog eats chocolate, note the type and amount, and call your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline immediately—don’t wait for symptoms to appear. White chocolate has little theobromine but still isn’t healthy.
