The story behind the answer

In The Last Jedi, the Resistance retreats to a long-abandoned Rebel outpost on a blinding white salt world whose skimmers carve crimson scars in the surface—distinct from Hoth’s true ice and snow (Empire Strikes Back), Jakku’s sandy junkyards (The Force Awakens), and Takodana’s forests and lakes (Maz Kanata’s castle).

Once a Rebel mining site, the planet is home to crystal foxes (vulptices) and becomes the stage for the Resistance’s desperate last stand against a battering-ram cannon. The striking white-over-red visuals were designed to symbolize sacrifice and were inspired by real salt flats like Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, giving the battle its unforgettable look as Luke Skywalker’s projection buys time for the survivors.
