Hatshepsut is correct: as a New Kingdom ruler of the 18th Dynasty (c. 1479–1458 BCE), she governed for about 22 years, one of Egypt’s most successful reigns. To legitimize her kingship, she adopted full pharaonic regalia—including the false beard—and took the throne name Maatkare. Her era saw flourishing trade (notably the expedition to Punt) and grand building projects like her iconic terraced temple at Deir el-Bahri.
