Valley of the Kings is correct because during the New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BCE), pharaohs abandoned conspicuous pyramids and were buried in hidden, rock-cut tombs on the west bank of Thebes (modern Luxor) to deter tomb robbers. Famous burials here include Tutankhamun (KV62), Seti I, and Ramesses II.
