What colour is the female blackbird?

Brown. In the common blackbird (Turdus merula), only the male is truly black, with a bright yellow-orange beak and eye-ring. Females are brown, often with a slightly speckled breast. This sexual dimorphism helps females blend into vegetation while nesting, reducing the risk from predators.
