Name the country

Antigua and Barbuda is correct. Its flag’s rising sun marks a “new era” (adopted in 1967 ahead of independence in 1981), with black for African heritage, blue for the Caribbean Sea, white for the sandy beaches, and red for the people’s energy. The bold “V” shape is often read as “victory.” The design was created by Antiguan artist Sir Reginald Samuel, who won a national competition. Memory tip: think “sun over sea and sand” to recall the black–blue–white layers beneath the golden sun. To avoid confusion with lookalikes: Argentina’s sun sits on sky-blue and white stripes; the Bahamas has an aquamarine–gold–black striped flag with a black triangle; Costa Rica features horizontal stripes with a coat of arms. Antigua and Barbuda’s dramatic sunrise motif is unique.
