This is the flag of China—the Five‑Star Red Flag—adopted in 1949. The large star represents the Communist Party, the four smaller stars symbolize the unity of the people around it; red stands for revolution.

Memory tip: think “one big star leading four smaller ones.” Don’t confuse it with Vietnam (single star) or Japan (red disc), Saudi Arabia (Arabic script and sword), or Jordan (Pan‑Arab stripes with a white star). Designed by Zeng Liansong, it reflects the founding of the People’s Republic after the civil war.
