The story behind the answer

This is North Macedonia’s flag, identified by the stylized golden sun with eight broad rays reaching the edges, called the “Sun of Liberty.” Adopted in 1995, it replaced the ancient Vergina Sun after a dispute with Greece.

The sun represents freedom and a new dawn after independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. In 2019, the country officially became North Macedonia under the Prespa Agreement, easing relations with Greece.
