Lift is the aerodynamic force that acts perpendicular to the oncoming airflow and pushes an aircraft upward, countering weight (gravity). It’s generated when wings shape the airflow: faster air over the top lowers pressure, while deflecting air downward creates an equal and opposite upward reaction (Bernoulli + Newton’s third law).
