Greek Mythology · Question
Who is the god of music, poetry, and the sun?
Answer
Apollo
The story behind the answer
Apollo is the Olympian god of music and poetry—often shown with a lyre and laurel—and, by the Classical era, he also became associated with the sun and light. His epithet Phoebus (“bright”) and his role as leader of the Muses reinforce his artistic and luminous identity. Apollo was also the patron of the Oracle at Delphi and a god of healing and prophecy. While Helios personified the sun earlier, Apollo absorbed many solar aspects over time.
