Greek Mythology
Who is the goddess of magic and crossroads?
Answer
Hecate
Explanation
Hecate is the goddess most closely tied to magic, witchcraft, ghosts, and liminal places like doorways and crossroads. Often depicted holding torches and keys, she guides travelers at night and stands guard where paths meet, a role reflected in her triple form watching three ways. Ancient Greeks left “Hecate’s suppers” at crossroads as offerings to her.
By contrast, Artemis rules the hunt, Demeter agriculture, and Athena wisdom and strategy. Hecate was especially honored in Hesiod’s Theogony
