Who is the goddess of the hearth and home?

The story behind the answer

Hestia is the Greek goddess of the hearth—the household fireplace—and by extension home, family, and communal unity. As the eldest Olympian, she guarded the sacred fire; in both homes and city halls (prytaneia), her flame symbolized stability and hospitality, and many rites began and ended with offerings to her.

By contrast, Demeter rules agriculture, Artemis the hunt, and Athena wisdom and crafts/warfare. Hestia’s Roman counterpart is Vesta, whose eternal flames were tended by the Vestal Virgins. Memory tip: Hestia = Hearth and Home—both start with “H.” Think “keeping the home fires burning”—that’s Hestia’s domain, even famously surrendering her Olympian throne to Dionysus to preserve peace at home.
