Which hero took ten years to return home after the Trojan War?

The story behind the answer

Odysseus is the hero who spent ten years trying to get home to Ithaca after the Trojan War, a voyage immortalized in Homer’s Odyssey. Delayed by Poseidon’s wrath, he survived trials like the Cyclops Polyphemus, Circe, the Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis, and years detained by the nymph Calypso before reuniting with Penelope and Telemachus.

Remember it this way: an “odyssey” means a long, adventurous journey—named after Odysseus himself. Achilles and Hector died at Troy, and Agamemnon returned much sooner, only to be murdered, so only Odysseus fits the decade-long homecoming.
