The order is Median, Achaemenid, Parthian, Sassanid. The Medes first united Iranian tribes in the 7th–6th centuries BCE. Cyrus the Great then overthrew them to found the Achaemenid Empire (550–330 BCE). After Alexander’s conquest and the Seleucids, the Arsacid Parthians (247 BCE–224 CE) restored Iranian rule, and were finally succeeded by the Sassanids (224–651 CE), who ruled until the early Islamic conquests.
