The Blue Whale is the largest animal known to have ever lived. Adults can reach about 30 meters (100 feet) and weigh up to 180–200 metric tons—far surpassing an orca (~9 m, ~6 tons), a giraffe (tallest land animal), or a colossal squid (large for an invertebrate but much lighter). A blue whale’s heart is the size of a small car, and its tongue can weigh as much as an elephant.
