Alderaan’s principled senator and viceroy, Bail Organa, secretly takes in the newborn princess with Queen Breha after Padmé’s death, raising her as Princess of Alderaan and shaping her diplomatic skills and rebel convictions. He appears in the prequels, The Clone Wars, Rebels, Rogue One, and Obi‑Wan Kenobi (portrayed by Jimmy Smits), and helps lay the foundations of the Rebel Alliance—ultimately sending Leia to seek Obi‑Wan’s aid.

Don’t be fooled by the distractors: Anakin Skywalker is Leia’s biological father who becomes Darth Vader, not her adoptive parent. Owen Lars is Luke’s moisture‑farmer uncle on Tatooine. Bail Antilles is a separate Alderaanian politician; “Antilles” is a common surname in Star Wars (see Wedge Antilles), but he has no role in Leia’s adoption.
