Peace. Linus Pauling won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for revealing the nature of the chemical bond and structures of complex molecules, and the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize for his vigorous campaign against nuclear weapons testing. His petitions and public advocacy (including rallying over 11,000 scientists) helped pave the way to the 1963 Partial Test Ban Treaty.
