Huginn and Muninn are Odin’s two ravens; their Old Norse names mean “Thought” (Huginn) and “Memory/Mind” (Muninn). Each day they fly over the worlds and return to perch on Odin’s shoulders, whispering all they have seen and heard—one reason Odin is the god of wisdom and foresight. This role is described in the Poetic Edda (Grímnismál), where Odin even admits he worries more about Muninn (Memory) returning.
