Seiðr is the magic most closely linked to the goddess Freyja. In the sagas and Eddas, she practices trance-based sorcery to perceive and shape fate—sending the spirit forth, foretelling outcomes, and altering luck—and is said to have taught seiðr to the Æsir, including Odin.

To remember: Freyja the fate-weaver = seiðr the seer’s art. By contrast, galdr is spell-singing, skaldic refers to court poetry, and rúnar/runes involve inscription-magic.
