Virtual reality company Oculus VR lost which of it's co-founders in a freak car accident in 2013?

Answer

Andrew Scott Reisse

The story behind the answer

Andrew Scott Reisse was the Oculus VR co-founder and lead engineer who died in 2013 after being struck by a car during a police chase—a tragic event widely reported at the time. Palmer Luckey, Nate Mitchell, and Jack McCauley were other key early Oculus figures who continued with the company as it grew.

Reisse’s graphics expertise helped build the technical foundation of the Oculus Rift, the headset that reignited consumer VR after a blockbuster 2012 Kickstarter and, soon after, Facebook’s 2014 acquisition. Memory tip: “Andrew’s accident” (A–A) ties his name to the event, and “Reisse before the rise” recalls that his death came just before Oculus’s rapid ascent.
