Which pharaoh built the Great Pyramid of Giza?

The story behind the answer

Khufu (Greek: Cheops), a 4th Dynasty pharaoh, commissioned the Great Pyramid at Giza around 2580–2560 BCE. Quarry marks naming Khufu in hidden chambers and contemporary records link the monument to his reign; his vizier Hemiunu likely directed the project. It remains the largest of the Giza pyramids and the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World.

By contrast, Djoser built the earlier Step Pyramid at Saqqara, Ramesses II is famed for Abu Simbel and the Ramesseum, and Ahmose I expelled the Hyksos and founded the 18th Dynasty. Memory tip: Khufu = “Khu-huge” pyramid, or Cheops “chief” pyramid.
