The story behind the answer

Fiji’s flag is identified by its sky‑blue field (for the Pacific), the Union Jack (British ties), and the unique shield: a red St. George’s Cross with Fiji’s key crops—sugar cane, bananas, and a coconut palm—and a dove of peace, topped by a golden lion holding a cocoa pod. These symbols are specific to Fiji, distinguishing it from Nauru, Papua New Guinea, and Tuvalu.

Fun to know: Fiji gained independence in 1970 and briefly considered removing the Union Jack in 2016 but kept the design.
