Hector is correct: as prince of Troy and son of King Priam, he was the Trojans’ foremost champion in the Iliad—leading their armies, dueling Ajax, and killing Patroclus before being slain by Achilles outside Troy’s walls. Revered as brave and honorable, Hector fought to defend his city and family, embodying Trojan valor.

By contrast, Achilles was the greatest Greek warrior, Odysseus the crafty Greek strategist, and Agamemnon the Greek commander. To remember: Hector = the protector of Troy (the words nearly rhyme).
