Narcissus is correct: in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the breathtakingly handsome youth spurns admirers—most famously the nymph Echo—until Nemesis lures him to a pool. There he falls in love with his own reflection, unable to tear himself away, and wastes away; a narcissus flower springs where he died. This myth explains the word “narcissism,” meaning excessive self-love.
