The story behind the answer

These are the ancient Jedi books Luke safeguarded in the Uneti-tree library on Ahch-To. Rey quietly takes them aboard the Millennium Falcon in The Last Jedi; when Yoda burns the tree, he notes she already has what she needs. The distractors don’t match: Sith holocrons are dark-side data devices, not paper volumes; “Jedi ancient codex” isn’t a canon designation; and the Force Priestesses (from The Clone Wars) aren’t associated with any physical scrolls.

The texts preserve early Jedi lore—teachings on the Order’s origins, the Force, and Jedi practices—which later guide Rey’s training. They reappear in The Rise of Skywalker, where her study of them helps chart her path and uncover key knowledge, including clues that lead to Exegol.
