His hand. When the gods tricked the giant wolf Fenrir into being bound with the magical fetter Gleipnir, Fenrir demanded a pledge: someone must place a hand in his mouth as a sign of good faith. Tyr, the god of law and oaths, volunteered. Once Fenrir realized the deception, he bit off Tyr’s hand.
