What medieval uprising in England happened in 1381?

The story behind the answer

In 1381, a nationwide rising of peasants and townsfolk erupted in England, sparked by a third poll tax, post–Black Death labor tensions, and enforcement of the Statute of Labourers. Rebels from Kent and Essex, led in part by Wat Tyler and the radical preacher John Ball, marched on London, attacked symbols of royal corruption, and demanded the end of serfdom, lower rents, and justice.

The teenage Richard II met the rebels at Mile End and Smithfield; after Tyler’s death, the movement collapsed, promises were withdrawn, and leaders were executed. Though crushed, it accelerated the long-term decline of villeinage and exposed the fragility of feudal control.
