The story behind the answer

It’s a Roseate Spoonbill: note the unmistakable spatula-shaped bill and rosy-pink plumage. Flamingos are taller with a sharply downturned bill; Scarlet Ibises are uniformly scarlet with a long, curved bill; and Black-faced Spoonbills are white with a dark face, not pink. The spoon-shaped bill is the giveaway.
